91st Anniversary of the Zeebrugge Raid Sunday 19th April
The aim is to hold a parade/church service in Wallasey on board the Iris and Daffodil. These are both Mersey Ferries that took part on the Zeebrugge Raid. Wreaths are thrown into the Mersey as a mark of respect. Wallasey and the Mersey Branch have an excellent reputation for running a Zeebrugge Parade every year. This year there is also a local Marching Band plus VIPs and a reception afterwards. The Parade will march through the streets of Wallasey behind the Band to remember those brave men. There is no limit on the numbers attending the Parade and about a 500 limit on reception numbers.
The cost of the reception is £5 per person.
The Annual Graspan Parade on the Mall on Sunday 17th May
As you are aware the City of London Branch runs the Graspan Parade, we help out by ensuring that you have a chance to apply for tickets in good time. The Parade forms up on Horse Guards Parade and there is a reception at the RMR City of London afterwards. The cost of a ticket for the reception is £5 per person and the Parade is an absolutely fantastic experience that I wholeheartedly recommend to you. You will meet plenty of old friends. A booking form will be sent to you in due course by the City of London Branch.
The RM Memorial Parade and Service at the National Memorial Arboretum
on Sunday 31st May
The Midlands Region is running this event this year and we are helping to publicise it. You are welcome to book through us and we will pass on your details to the organisers. The Service will commence at 1200 followed by a small drinks reception and a number of lunch possibilities. Coffee and biscuits will cost £2 on arrival.
There are 2 options for lunch. The first is a £12 per head silver service meal that includes the coffee/tea and biscuits on arrival. Or you can purchase the same 2 course meal for £7.50 in the self service restaurant. Please indicate your choices on the form.
The Spean Bridge Parade in Fort William on Sunday 28th June
The Spean Bridge Parade grows in size, particularly with the superb support from Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines. There is plenty of accommodation available if you wait until May to book and the reception in the Spean Bridge Hotel afterwards is excellent. Please support this excellent event. Tickets for the Reception are £5 per head.
The 63rd Reunion at CTCRM on Saturday and
Sunday 26th/27th September
The Reunion will be much the same with shooting, quizzes and a superb band concert, this year performed by our very own RMA Concert Band. There will be the normal surprise in the Drill Shed after the concert. The support from the serving Corps will continue to grow and there will be large numbers to talk to. However the major change is that you are only charged £5 per person for a concert and buffet ticket per person. All other meals are free, but you still have to book them as there is a limit of 600 for each meal. If you do not have a ticket then you receive no meal.
This year we will be officially opening the new Royal Marines Memorial Wall on the Parade on the Sunday. The format will be very different and we will be joined by a company of Royal Marines who will have returned from Helmand and the families of those bereaved since 2001. It will be a very emotional day. The Sunday lunch will be an all ranks lunch in the Gym and we anticipate well over 2,000 on the day. There will be two sittings, one from 1300 to 1400 and one from 1400 to 1500. This will be a very special day.
